Under the guidance of the esteemed Head of the Scientific Research Authority, and within the framework of strengthening scientific cooperation with Iraqi universities, the Center for the Treatment and Disposal of Chemical, Biological, and Military Waste organized a scientific visit for third-year students from the College of Science/Department of Forensic Evidence at Al-Farahidi University to the center's laboratories on Monday, March 9, 2026, under the supervision of the center's director, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Salam Qasim.

The Director of the Environment, Water, and Renewable Energy Research and Technology Center at the Scientific Research Authority, in cooperation with the Engineering Support Department, formed a specialized team from the center's staff to carry out inspection and maintenance work on scientific equipment

Under the guidance of Dr. Nadhir Jamal Omran, Director of the Environment, Water, and Renewable Energy Research and Technology Center at the Scientific Research Authority, and in cooperation with the Engineering Support Department, a specialized team from the center's staff was formed. This team, comprised of Dr. Mohammed Taher, Dr. Salwan Sufyan, Mr. Ali Mohammed Jawad, and Mr. Mohammed Aboud Ayash, was tasked with inspecting and maintaining scientific equipment, as well as organizing training courses for staff from the Baghdad Municipality's Department of Solid Environmental Waste.

The Industrial Applications and Materials Technology Research Center at the Scientific Research Authority held a scientific lecture as part of its educational program. The lecture, titled “The Latest Developments in the Field of Antioxidants,” was presented by Dr. Ammar Moula Hammoud and attended by a number of researchers and specialists. The lecturer reviewed the concept of the balance between oxidation and antioxidant processes, explaining the factors that lead to increased levels of oxidative stress, particularly in light of current environmental challenges and the accompanying rise in pollution rates. This has prompted the scientific community to intensify research efforts in this field.

The Scientific Research Authority Holds a Lecture on Assessing the Energy Transition in Iraq

The Scientific Research Authority, through its Training Department and in cooperation with the Center for Environmental, Water, and Renewable Energy Research and Technology, organized a scientific lecture entitled “Assessing the Energy Transition in Iraq.” The lecture, presented by Dr. Ali Kadhim Rasen, was part of the Authority’s activities aimed at promoting scientific awareness and keeping abreast of developments in the field of sustainable energy. The lecture addressed the current state of the energy sector in Iraq, highlighting pathways for transitioning from reliance on fossil fuels to a more diversified and sustainable energy mix. It also reviewed the most important indicators used in assessing the energy transition, including energy efficiency, carbon emission intensity, energy security, and the level of integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid.

The Scientific Research Authority organized a training course entitled “SQ4 Database Fundamentals,” presented by Dr. Karam Jassim Mohammed from the Space Research and Technology Center/Remote Sensing Department. This course is part of the Authority’s programs aimed at developing the skills of its scientific and administrative staff. The course targeted employees in the financial and administrative departments and research centers, covering the fundamental principles of creating and managing databases effectively. This approach ensures information organization, optimizes storage mechanisms, and minimizes storage space requirements.

A research team from the Scientific Research Authority publishes a study in an international journal indexed in Scopus

A research team from the Environmental, Water, and Renewable Energy Research and Technology Center of the Scientific Research Authority, in collaboration with researchers from the University of Kufa, has successfully published a scientific study in the international journal Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care, indexed in Scopus. The research team included Dr. Baidaa Hamad Obaid, Dr. Nahla Fathi Makki, researcher Manar Dawood Salman, and Professor Ali Ahmed. The study investigated the relationship between vitamins D3 and B12 and thyroid function through computational analysis of their potential interaction with thyroid hormone receptors.
