The University of Baghdad received a high-level delegation from the Scientific Research Authority, headed by its Chairman, Professor Dr. Shafiq Shaker Al-Mawla, and in the presence of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Insaf, the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, and several deans of relevant colleges. This visit came within the framework of strengthening scientific and research cooperation.
The meeting addressed a memorandum of cooperation between the Authority and the University, and an agreement to convene a joint committee to study research projects that serve the community and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. A summer training program for students, jointly supervised by both parties, was also agreed upon to enhance students' practical skills.
The attendees emphasized the need to develop the executive and legislative framework for these initiatives and the importance of involving Iraqi academic expertise from specialized researchers at the Scientific Research Authority and the University of Baghdad, as well as benefiting from regional and international experiences in line with the government's directives to strengthen the scientific environment and promote sustainable development.
This meeting contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4, which focuses on quality education, and Goal 17, which calls for partnerships to achieve the goals.
